What should I bring to the dealership when I'm ready to buy or lease? | Fort Worth TX | Serving Arlington, Burleson, Weatherford & Keller

What To Bring To The Dealership When You're Ready To Buy Or Lease in Fort Worth, TX

When you're ready to finally drive home that car you've had your eye on all year, it's easy to get swept up in the excitement. That's great, but you'll want to make sure you bring the right items with you to the dealership so that everything can go by smoothly and quickly.

To help with that, just follow this helpful list. Here at Toyota of Fort Worth, we want all of our customers to drive home the car of their dreams, so keep reading to make that happen!

1. Your driver's license.

When you fill out the paperwork, you'll obviously need your license on hand for proper identification. However, there's always a chance that the dealership might already have your license on file if you’ve taken the vehicle for a test-drive before.

2. Your Social Security number.

If you don't have it memorized, bring your social security card with you. Even if you're buying the vehicle outright -- without any financing -- the dealer will still need your Social for tax purposes. Almost all financial transactions valued at over $10,000 are required to be reported to the IRS.

3. Proof of car insurance.

You can't purchase a vehicle without this key piece of paper. There are laws in all 50 states requiring drivers to have some kind of insurance because it protects everyone on the road.

4. Your wallet.

You’ll have to pay for the vehicle somehow, whether that's through financing, cash, cashier’s check or credit card. There are several payment options these days, and depending on how much your car costs, it makes sense to figure out the best way to pay for it ahead of time. When leasing, you’ll typically have to make some kind of a down payment on the vehicle.

5. Proof of employment, residence and salary.

Depending on your credit rating, you may need to bring these things with you.

6. A few hours to fill out all of the paperwork.

It can be a time-consuming process, especially if you're applying for financing.

For trading in your old car you'll need:

7. A trade-in appraisal.

You'll usually have your appraisal performed at the dealership that you're trading it in to. Most of the time, they'll be good for up to three days.

8. Your old car's title:

Once you trade it in, you'll have to turn this over since you're releasing ownership of the vehicle.

If you’d like to purchase or lease a new vehicle in Fort Worth, TX, drop by Toyota of Fort Worth at 9001 Camp Bowie West, Fort Worth, TX 76116 for a test-drive. We look forward to serving our customers from Arlington, Burleson, Weatherford and Keller!
